IPL, RF and LED Light Therapy in Plano, TX

Advanced Treatment for the Eyes, Eyelids and Surrounding Skin

At The Plano Eye Care Center, we use advanced light and energy-based treatments for both eye health and the skin surrounding the eyes. Our iProElite platform combines radiofrequency (RF) and intense pulsed light (IPL), while InfinityPro provides LED and low-level light therapy (LLLT). That gives us several treatment options instead of trying to solve every concern with one setting or one device.

We start with a clinical evaluation, then recommend the treatment or combination that fits what we actually see.

IPL and LLLT Dry Eye Treatment

Targeted Treatment for Dry Eye, Redness, Pigmentation and Skin Laxity

One Treatment Platform, Several Different Goals

The area around your eyes is different from the rest of your face. The eyelids contain meibomian glands that play an important role in tear quality, while the surrounding skin can also develop redness, pigmentation, laxity and texture changes.

That is why our approach crosses the line between medical eye care and aesthetics.

With iProElite, we can use RF and IPL with different settings depending on the concern. RF delivers controlled heat and can be used to warm the meibomian glands during dry-eye treatment. For aesthetic care, RF is used to support collagen remodeling and skin tightening around the eyes.

Concerns We Can Address Around the Eyes and Face

Patients do not always fit neatly into a “medical” or “cosmetic” category. Someone with rosacea may also have irritated eyelids. Someone receiving dry-eye treatment may also be bothered by loose upper-lid skin or pigmentation around the eyes.

Our treatment options can be used for concerns that include:

  • Dry eye and meibomian gland dysfunction: RF helps warm thickened oil within the eyelid glands, while IPL can be used to address inflammation and abnormal vessels associated with the dry-eye cycle.
  • Eyelid inflammation and ocular rosacea: IPL may be incorporated when redness and inflammation around the lids are part of the problem. A recent review found IPL has shown benefits for both cutaneous and ocular rosacea, including improvement in lid-margin blood vessels and meibomian gland function.
  • Upper and lower eyelid laxity: Our OcuLift protocol uses the iProElite platform for nonsurgical treatment of areas including the upper eyelid, under-eye area, brow and outer eye.
  • Facial redness and rosacea: IPL settings can target visible redness and pigmentation in the skin surrounding the eyes and across appropriate areas of the face.
  • Sun spots, uneven pigmentation and skin texture: IPL and RF can be used with aesthetic settings selected according to your skin and treatment goals.
  • Periocular skin health: Treatment can focus on the delicate skin surrounding the eyes rather than approaching it like a general facial treatment.

The important part is that the setting changes with the goal. We are not using a dry-eye protocol to treat pigmentation or an aesthetic protocol to treat an eyelid-gland problem.

LED and Low-Level Light Therapy Give Us Another Option

InfinityPro uses LED and low-level light therapy without making contact with the skin. During dry-eye treatment, red or pink light can be used with the eyes closed to support the meibomian glands and help address inflammation. The treatment is typically performed for about 10 to 15 minutes and is designed to be gentle and comfortable.

InfinityPro also gives us additional aesthetic treatment modes. Depending on the prescribed protocol, different wavelengths may be used for concerns involving acne and sebum, skin tone and pigment, hydration, facial toning, collagen support and other skin-health goals.

Because the treatments are prescribed rather than selected casually, we can decide whether LED makes sense on its own or as a complement to RF or IPL.

Frequently Asked Questions

Depending on the treatment settings and your examination, IPL may be used for dry eye associated with meibomian gland dysfunction, eyelid inflammation, rosacea and facial redness, sun spots, pigmentation and certain skin-tone concerns. It is not one universal treatment, so we adjust the protocol according to the condition being treated.

RF uses controlled radiofrequency energy and heat. IPL uses pulses of broad-spectrum light, while LED/LLLT uses lower-intensity wavelengths of light without the same type of heat or skin contact. Each has different applications, which is why having multiple technologies lets us build a more specific plan.

The iProElite OcuLift protocol is a nonsurgical treatment intended for upper- and lower-eyelid laxity and areas around the brow and outer eye. It is not the same as eyelid surgery, so we will explain what kind of change is reasonable to expect and whether your concern is appropriate for nonsurgical treatment.

In some cases, yes. The iProElite platform can be used with different settings for medical and aesthetic concerns, and InfinityPro can complement those treatments. Whether we combine them depends on your evaluation and the specific areas being treated.

For iProElite dry-eye treatment, the practice’s standard protocol is four sessions spaced about two to three weeks apart, with maintenance considered later when appropriate. Aesthetic and LED treatment schedules vary by concern, so we will give you a specific plan before you start.

Downtime depends on the technology and settings used. InfinityPro LED treatment is described in the practice materials as having essentially no downtime, while IPL and RF experiences can vary based on the area and treatment intensity. We will review expected aftercare with you before treatment.

See Which Treatment Is Right for You

The right treatment depends on what is causing the problem and what you want to improve. At The Plano Eye Care Center, we use IPL, RF and LED light therapy for a range of medical and aesthetic concerns around the eyes, including dry eye, lid inflammation, rosacea, pigmentation and skin laxity. We will evaluate the area, explain which option makes sense and build a treatment plan around your needs rather than using the same protocol for everyone. Schedule a consultation with our Plano team to find out which treatment approach may be right for you.
